LIAM STEWART SCORED THE CHIEFS LONE GOAL

Lipon is the reigning WHL player of the week first hand Friday night, as the Kamloops Blazers forward scored a natural hat trick in the first 8:30 of the game leading Kamloops to a 5-1 win over the Chiefs Friday night in Kamloops, B.C. Spokane lost for just the second time in 7 games, and saw their 3 game winning streak snapped.
Lipon scored at 2:51, 4:37 and 8:30 of the first period as Kamloops took a 3-0 lead after one. Spokane would outshoot the Blazers 19-4 in the second period and score the only goal of the frame when Liam Stewart scored his 3rd of the season from Dylan Walchuk and Reid Gow at 18:01 to bring the Chiefs within 3-1 after two. Spokane failed to score on two ensuing power play chances and the Blazers capitalized, scoring 2 goals in a 2:29 span of the third period to cap a 5-1 victory.
Spokane outshot Kamloops 37-23, but the Blazers special teams went 2-6 on the power play, while holding the Chiefs power play scoreless at 0-4. Mitch Holmberg's streak of 6 straight games with a goal, the longest in the WHL, was snapped, as was Brenden Kichton's 5 game assist streak. Spokane returns home to host Vancouver in the Giants only visit to Spokane this season on Saturday at 7:05pm.
