Spokane Chiefs forward prospects Blake Swetlikoff and Logan Cox have been named to Team Saskatchewan for the upcoming 2019 Canada Winter Games, as announced by the Saskatchewan Hockey Association this week. They are the third and fourth Chiefs prospects named to rosters for the tournament, joining D Graham Sward (British Columbia) and F Owen MacNeil (Alberta).
Swetlikoff was selected by the Chiefs in the third round (61st overall) of the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft out of Regina, Sask. This season, he has scored three goals and nine assists for 12 points in 23 games with the Regina Pat C’s of the SMHL. Swetlikoff piled on 72 points (32G-4oA) in 31 games at the bantam level last season.
Cox was picked by the Chiefs one round later, in the fourth round (83rd overall) of the 2018 bantam draft. The Prince Alberta, Sask. native has recorded five goals and two assists with the Prince Albert Mintos of the SMHL this season. He scored 57 points (19G-38A) with the P.A. Raiders bantam AA club last year.
Team Saskatchewan begins their Canada Winter Games tournament play on Saturday, February 16.
The Chiefs return to Spokane Arena on Wednesday, December 12 to face the Everett Silvertips. It will be another TicketsWest Player Magnet Giveaway Night as the first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a refrigerator magnet featuring a Chiefs player.
