The draft will continue indefinitely until all 22 WHL clubs have passed on their selection. Spokane has made more than 13 picks just once since 1990 (14 in 1997).
Following Spokane’s third place finish in the U.S. Division during the 2017-18 season, they hold their lowest draft position since 2011, when they picked 19th overall. The Chiefs have picked 17th twice, selecting D Tyler King in 2010 and F Brandin Cote in 1996.
They picked 11 players, including forward Jack Finley from Kelowna, B.C. at sixth overall, in last year’s draft. Of the 23 non-affiliated players on Spokane’s roster during the 2018 WHL Playoffs, 14 were acquired through the bantam draft.
