CHIEFS WIN 4-2 IN VICTORIA

The Spokane Chiefs opened a 4 game road trip through British Columbia with a 4-2 win over the Victoria Royals Tuesday night in Victoria, B.C. The win snapped a two game Spokane losing streak and gave the Chiefs a 3-0 record against the Royals this season.

Victoria's Dakota Conroy opened the scoring just 5:17 into the game to make it 1-0 Royals. Spokane's Mitch Holmberg countered with his 25th of the season at 12:24 from Collin Valcourt and Mike Aviani to tie the game at one after the first period. Neither team scored in the second frame as Spokane outshot Victoria 25-19 through 2 periods. Spokane killed off 5 Royals power play attempts through two.

Valcourt would notch his 15th goal of the season on a rebound 1:30 of the third period to give Spokane their first lead of the night at 2-1. Brenden Kichton and Marek Kalus picked up the assists. Victoria would even the score on a Jaime Crooks shot at 7:26 of the third to make it 2-2. Blake Gal would notch the game winner at 16:40 of the third from Steve Kuhn and Dylan Walchuk. Corey Baldwin would cap the scoring with his 5th goal of the year on an empty netter at 18:54. Spokane outshot Victoria 33-28 in the game and went a perfect 6-6 on the penalty kill.

Spokane will continue the road trip Wednesday night with their second straight game in Victoria. Mike Boyle will have the call on 1510 KGA beginning with the pre-game show at 6:30pm.
