Chiefs defenseman Reid Gow received a free agent invitation to play in the Traverse City Prospects Tournament this weekend, skating with the St. Louis Blues. A 19-year-old from Killarney, MB, Gow finished last season with 51 points (7 goals, 44 assists) and a +29 plus/minus. He is entering his fourth season with the Chiefs.
The annual tournament, hosted in Traverse City, MI, is a showcase for future NHL talent. Former participants include 2010 NHL Calder Trophy (Rookie of the Year) winner Jeff Skinner as well as Conn Smythe Trophy winner and current Detroit Red Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg.
The Blues prospects lost 5-2 last night to the Dallas Stars prospects. Gow did not record any stats in the game. The Blues play today against the Minnesota Wild at 6 p.m. (CST), on Sunday vs. the Red Wings at 6 p.m. (CST) and again on Monday, September 9, in a tournament playoff game to be determined.
The Chiefs are in the middle of their 2013 WHL Preseason schedule, as they play two games this weekend in Kennewick. Spokane takes on Kootenay at 3 p.m. today, Friday and the Tri-City Americans tomorrow night at 7 p.m. The team returns to host a preseason game against the Americans at Eastern Washington University in Cheney on Wednesday, September 11, at 7:05 p.m.
