BRUTON EARNS INVITE TO FLAMES DEVELOPMENT CAMP

Chris Bruton, captain of the 2008 Memorial Cup Champion Spokane Chiefs, has earned an invitation to the Calgary Flames development camp from July 21st through July 26th. Bruton is one of 30 prospects (four goalies, eight defensemen, 18 forwards) to participate, including Chiefs center Mitch Wahl, the Flames second round selection in last month’s NHL Draft.
As a 20-year-old, Bruton scored a career high 26 goals and 63 points this year, both third on the Chiefs, and finished his four year WHL career with 258 games, 14th all-time in franchise history. His +33 in 2007-08 was tied for fifth ...

WHL AND INSINC EXTEND WHL WEB TV PARTNERSHIP

Calgary, AB and Burnaby, BC - Ron Robison, Commissioner of the Western Hockey League (WHL) and Interactive Netcasting Systems Inc. (INSINC) today announced plans to continue to build upon their WHL WEB TV broadcast partnership. INSINC will webcast all WHL regular season and playoff games through completion of the 2010-11 season. The WHL WEB TV games will be made available via the Internet live on a pay-per-view (PPV) broadband basis at http://livestream.whl.ca/

CHIEFS TRADE IMPORT PICK

The Spokane Chiefs traded the 59th overall selection in today’s CHL Import Draft to the Kelowna Rockets for a seventh round selection in the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft.
Both forward Ondøej Roman, from the Czech Republic, and Austrian defenseman Stefan Ulmer are eligible to return to the Chiefs next year and will occupy the maximum two spots allowed for import players.
