Regina, Sask. – Bailey Brkin had 35 saves and Adam Beckman scored two goals as the Spokane Chiefs blanked the Regina Pats, 4-0 on Wednesday in Regina, Sask. The shutout was the first of the season for Spokane and the second shutout for Brkin as a Chief. The victory was the third in four games for Spokane on their East Division road trip.

Ethan McIndoe’s power play goal just over 6 minutes into the game from Luke Toporowski and Jack Finley gave the Chiefs a 1-0 lead after one. The goal was the second straight in as many games for McIndoe. Beckman’s first tally of the night came on the power play late in the second period from Riley Woods and Ty Smith to put the Chiefs up 2-0 after two. The assists extended Smith’s points scoring streak to eight-straight and four in a row for Woods.

Finley then put home his third goal in two nights with a rebound from Tyson Feist and Mike Ladyman two minutes into the third to make it 3-0 Spokane. The assist for Ladyman was his first Western Hockey League point in his second game as a Chief. Beckman would cap the scoring with his first multi-goal game as he converted Woods feed 1:32 seconds after Finley’s goal to wrap up a 4-0 victory. Brkin did the rest, as Spokane outshot Regina 43-35 in the game. They went 2-for-5 on the power play and a perfect 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.

The win moved Spokane’s record to 6-2-0-2 for 14 points and first place in the U.S. Division by a point over Seattle. The victory was also the first for the Chiefs in Regina since December 1, 2012 when Spokane scored a 6-5 overtime win.
