EVERETT, Wash. – Everett scored two power play goals in the second period on their way to a 4-1 win over the Spokane Chiefs Friday night in Everett. With the win, the Silvertips pulled within one point of the Chiefs for third place in the U.S. Division.

Everett scored midway through the first period on a Sean Richards goal to grab a 1-0 lead after one. Spokane outshot Everett 11-8 in the first. The Silvertips would score on the first of three power play chances early in the second as Matt Fonteyne extended the Everett lead to 2-0 at 1:53 of the period. Spokane answered just 21 seconds later as Milos Fafrak scored in his second-straight game to bring the Chiefs within 2-1. The Silvertips would convert their second power play goal late in the period to take a 3-1 lead after two, as the Chiefs managed just five shots on goal in the second.

Spokane would put up 19 shots in the third period and would have three of the period’s four power play chances, but Spokane was unable to break through against Everett goalie Carter Hart, who stopped 34 of 35 Spokane shots on the night. Everett would cap the scoring with an empty net goal with just over two minutes left to wrap up the 4-1 victory. The Chiefs outshot Everett 35-29 in the game, but went 0-for-4 on the power play and just 3-for-5 on the penalty kill.

The Chiefs will open a three-game home stand Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. when they host the Memorial Cup host Regina Pats. Mike Boyle will have the call on 1510 KGA starting with the pre-game show at 6:30 pm.
