Chiefs Lose at Prince Albert, 8-2

Prince Albert used a four-goal first period on their way to an 8-2 victory over the Spokane Chiefs on Saturday night in Prince Albert, Sask. The Chiefs concluded their East Division swing with a record of 3-2-1-0 as their overall record fell to 6-3-1-2 on the season. Spokane has 15 points; tied with Portland for first place in the U.S. Division.

The Raiders scored four unanswered goals in the first as they outshot the Chiefs 19-8. Prince Albert, the top-ranked team in the latest CHL poll, extended the lead to 5-0 early in the second period.

Spokane got on the board as Nolan Reid scored his first of the season on the power play 7:18 into the period to make it a 5-1 game. Rookie Erik Atchison notched his first career WHL goal from Michael King and Reid at 15:28 to draw the Chiefs within 5-2 after two periods.  

Prince Albert put the game away in the third as they scored three straight goals to cap the scoring. The Raiders outshot the Chiefs 38-34 in the game, as Spokane went 1-for-5 on the power play and 4-for-6 on the penalty kill.

The Chiefs will return home to open a 5 game homestand when they host Portland Friday. Mike Boyle will have the radio call on 1510 KGA, beginning with pre-game at 6:30 p.m. PT and puck drop at 7 p.m. PT.
