Assistant GM Chris Moulton Extended as Bantam Draft Approaches

Spokane, Wash. – The Spokane Chiefs announced on Tuesday that Assistant General Manager of Hockey Operations Chris Moulton has signed an extension with the organization. Moulton has been a part of the Chiefs’ staff since 2005.

“I am happy to sign an extension and excited to continue to build our program,” Moulton said. “The Chiefs and Spokane have become a huge part of my life. I am looking forward to watching our players and our organization grow.”

In his role, Moulton oversees the Chiefs’ scouting staff, evaluating bantam players throughout the season, culminating in the annual WHL Bantam Draft.

“The draft is always a busy time, as we welcome new players and families to our organization,” Moulton added. “Building through the draft is an integral part of winning. It’s the end of a very long process and the beginning of another.”Chris Moulton

Before his tenure with the Chiefs, Moulton was one of the original members of the Calgary Hitmen organization and worked his way up, eventually holding the title of Second Scout from 2002-05. A Fernie, B.C. native, Moulton was promoted to his current position with the Chiefs in November 2016.

Beyond bantam scouting, Moulton also works closely with General Manager Scott Carter on player evaluation and roster transactions.

The 2018 WHL Bantam Draft will take place in Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, May 3, beginning at 8:30 a.m. MT / 7:30 a.m. PT. The Chiefs hold the 17th overall pick.
