Everett, Wash. — The Spokane Chiefs saw their two-game winning streak come to an end on Sunday night as the Everett Silvertips shut out the Chiefs, 2-0 in Everett. It marks the first time Spokane has been shut out this season (in 31 games). The loss was Spokane’s second in the last five days in Everett and pulled Silvertips 15 points ahead of Spokane for the U.S. Division lead.

The two teams were scoreless through the first period as Chiefs goalie Bailey Brkin turned aside 13 Silvertips shots to keep Spokane even through one. Brkin would save 16 more Everett shots in the second as the game remained scoreless through two periods. Everett would break through on a Bryce Kindopp deflection goal with just under five minutes to play to break the scoreless deadlock and give the Tips a 1-0 lead. Kindopp would add an empty net goal with 11 seconds remaining to cap off the 2-0 win for Everett.

Brkin was sensational in net, turning away 38 Everett shots in the loss. Spokane was outshot 40-21 while going 0-for-1 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill. Everett has now won 4-of-5 matchups with the Chiefs this season.
