Spokane Chiefs forward Riley Woods has signed a one-year contract with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies, as announced by the Marlies on Tuesday.
Woods recently wrapped up a four-year, 230-game WHL career during which he scored 75 goals and 105 assists for 180 points between the Chiefs and the Regina Pats.
Acquired by Spokane in a trade with Regina midway through the 2016-17 season, Woods flourished during his final two WHL seasons. He tallied 25 goals and 32 assists for 57 points as a 19-year-old before leading the Chiefs in scoring as an overage player during the 2018-19 campaign, racking up 75 points (29G-46A) including 24 multi-point and seven multi-goal performances. He added 14 points (7G-7A) during the 2019 playoffs, which tied for first on the club.
The Marlies are the primary development program for the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs.
