Two Chiefs Prospects Competing for Spot on Team Manitoba

Two Chiefs prospects are currently competing at Hockey Manitoba’s Program of Excellence Male U16 Top-40 camp, running through Sunday in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. Michael Cicek (forward; Winnipeg) and Carson Buydens (forward; Gladstone) are both looking for a spot on Manitoba’s final under-16 roster for the 2019 WHL Cup, to be held in October.

Cicek and Buydens were both selected by the Chiefs in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft. Cicek went in the sixth round (125th overall) out of the Winnipeg Monarchs program while Buydens was picked just one round later (147th overall) from the Central Plains Capitals.

They are two of 44 players invited to the camp, including 24 forwards.
