PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – The Spokane Chiefs scored five unanswered goals as Spokane swept a two game series in Prince George with a 5-1 victory Saturday night.

After leading the entire game in the opener the night before, the Chiefs fell behind for the first time this season, as Jerad Bethune scored on a rebound 4:25 into the game to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead. Spokane would answer back just 28 seconds later as Rykr Cole scored his first of the year on a perfect feed from Riley Woods to the left post at 4:53 to tie the game at one. The Chiefs would take the lead for good as Hudson Elynuik tallied his second goal in as many nights on assists from Hayden Ostir and Taylor Ross at 13:01 to make it 2-1 Spokane after one.

The Chiefs notched the only goal in the second off a 4 on 4 situation. Ty Smith hit an open Nolan Reid for a one timer at 2:48 of the period to give Spokane a 3-1 advantage. Rookie import Milos Fafrak scored his first point as a Chief with an assist on the goal. Spokane would be out shot 10-1 at one point in the third, but would withstand the Cougars siege, as Eli Zummack scored an empty net goal from Elynuik and Ostir with 2 minutes remaining to run the score to 4-1. Ethan McIndoe then capped the scoring with a tip of a Riley Woods shot at 19:41, as Cole also got an assist as Spokane closed out a 5-1 victory.

Spokane and Prince George each put up 25 shots in the contest and both clubs went 0-4 on the power play. Dawson Weatherill notched his second straight win with 24 saves after a 28 save effort the night before. The Chiefs will now head to Cranbrook, B.C. to face the Kootenay Ice Friday night at 6 p.m. Mike Boyle will have the call on 1510 KGA, starting with the pre-game show at 5:30 p.m.
